The South Cariboo Garlic Festival

South Cariboo Garlic festival was held in Lac La Hache this past weekend.  Here are a few fun shots I took and  some facts about the stinking rose…

  • Garlic dates back to 4000 BC and is native to Central Asia.
  • The ancient Egyptians used garlic. Clay models of it were found in King Tut’s tomb.
  • Garlic was once used as currency.
  • There are over 300 varieties of garlic grown worldwide.
  • Garlic has long been used as a seasoning staple throughout Asia, Africa, & Europe.
  • Garlic didn’t become widely accepted in the U.S. until around 1940. Today, Americans consume more than 250 millions pounds annually.

My Manitoba Connection

I had the pleasure of photographing the Wonsley family today.  Mr. Wonsley was just heading back to Friendly Manitoba. Which is where I am from ( Camp Shilo ) and  he is from (Brandon). It was fun to hear the names of old places I visited as a child (Waggle Springs for one). Mr. Wonsley also has two  great daughters who I might add are awesome guitarists.

So I am sharing part of our shoot together!

Sunset at Valhalla Part 2

The sunsets where I live never cease to amaze me.

Sunrise Sunset

The smoke from the forest fires in our area of British Columbia have made it so our sunrises and sunsets are even more beautiful.  The brilliant orange and red colors are amazing.  The sunrise on the left is over Horse Lake.  The sun setting on the right is at Valhalla Road.

Pat & Juanita Corbett

This very hard working couple were  recently recognized for their  work & I had the pleasure of photographing them in my studio.  The Tourism Industry Association of Canada has named Pat Corbett, founder of The Hills Health Ranch with his wife Juanita, to the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame in 2009.  Congratulations  Pat &  Juanita !
